SHOP CRAIGSLIST!
I always go there first for items such as furniture, lighting, musical instruments... mostly big, bulky items that people do not want to put on eBay and have to ship it.

• Do NOT respond to ads in your local listing from distant sellers.
• Don't be afraid to haggle about price.  Chances are they priced it knowing that someone would haggle with them.
• Do your homework on similar items - used and new.
